Burg Budget

An Independent Accounting of City Hall

Assessment - School Choice Sending Tuition

When a Fitchburg kid chooses to attend public school in a different town instead, Fitchburg has to pay that other town tuition. This is that payment going out - the flip side of the tuition Fitchburg receives from other towns' kids.

The size of this charge rose to $2,796,259 this year, about 10% more than the $2,535,793 it was in FY2025. Put another way: back in FY2019 this made up about 38.5% of State Assessments - today it's 31.3%, a smaller slice than before.
